HISTORY The Environment Committee was established in 2007 and amalgamated with the Social Service Committee in 2009 to form the Community Committee (CC). The CC is an elected student body assisted and supported by teachers.
Role of the COMMUNITY COMMITTEE The CC shall meet regularly to react to unpredictable circumstances such as earthquakes and predictable events such as support for our World Vision sponsor boy James and Earth Hour. The grades also embed social action into the curriculum (such as 40 Hour Famine).
Our PUPOSE Through an emphasis on social justice and environmental care, the Community Committee (CC) will make a positive difference by taking an active role in our school and wider community. The CC will help organise and run specific and on-going humanitarian and environment events. The CC will integrate and develop key PYP student learning outcomes and attitudes, such as commitment, empathy, co-operation and caring. The aim of the PYP is to assist students to become globally-minded citizens through positive action.
